Between DIY and full-service.
Loading Crews matches people moving a rental truck with vetted local labor. You rent through U-Haul, Penske, or Budget; we send the crew that loads or unloads it. No signups, flat-rate quotes, no charge upfront.
What we do
Two-thirds of residential moves get done with a rental truck. The truck rental is the easy part — U-Haul, Penske, and Budget all sell them by the hour or by the day. The hard part is everything that has to happen to your stuff before and after that drive: someone has to load it, and someone has to unload it. For most of the country, that someone is whichever friend or family member you can guilt into a Saturday.
Loading Crews matches you with a local two- or three-person crew that loads or unloads the rental truck professionally. You rent the truck yourself; we handle the lift. Most one-bedroom apartments load in two hours; most three-bedroom houses load in three to four. Billing is flat-rate and happens at the end of the job — no deposit or booking fee.
Who's behind this
We're an independent labor service. Not affiliated with U-Haul International, Penske Truck Leasing, or Budget Truck Rental — we just send labor that works alongside their trucks every day. All brand names on this site are referenced descriptively, never claimed as endorsement.
Loading Crews dispatches through a network of roughly 28,000 vetted movers covering all 50 states. Crew leads onboard through a vetting process before they take their first booking. Dispatch matches your booking to the closest available crew the same day.
What we don't do
- We don't drive the truck. Your name is on the rental contract; you're the driver. The crew lifts, packs, and unloads.
- We don't broker storage. Self-storage facilities are listed where they're also rental-truck dealers, but we don't rent boxes ourselves.
- We don't sell long-distance van-line moves. If you're crossing the country and don't want to drive a truck for three days, that's a different service — book a licensed mover like Allied or Mayflower.
- We don't pack boxes. The crew handles furniture, appliances, and heavy items. Boxes need to be packed and labeled before the crew arrives. We can recommend packing services in your metro if you want a referral.
How we price
Every job is quoted individually. After you submit the booking form, dispatch sends a flat-rate quote based on crew size, hours, stairs, specialty items, and the date. The number you see on the quote is the number you pay — no surge pricing, no upcharge on arrival. Billing happens at the end of the job. No deposit, no booking fee.
Coverage
We serve all 50 states. The site currently indexes 22,551 U-Haul / Penske / Budget rental locations across 3,558 cities in 50 states + DC. If your city doesn't have a city page yet, the booking form on the homepage still works — type your ZIP and we'll route a crew.
Contact
For booking, use the form on any city page or the homepage. For crew applications, press, or boring legal stuff, the disclaimer in the footer covers most of it; bookings go through Slack dispatch and you'll hear from us within five minutes of submitting the form.
