How loading crews work in Portland
You rent a U-Haul, Penske, or Budget truck. We send a two- or three-person crew to your origin — Pearl District loft, Hawthorne bungalow, Alberta cottage, Sellwood craftsman, Beaverton apartment, wherever in metro PDX. They load under your direction. Most Portland jobs run two to three hours.
We don’t drive the truck and we don’t broker storage. Labor — done by people who load in actual Pacific Northwest rain without losing a floorboard — is the whole product.
When to use a crew vs. moving yourself
Portland patterns where a crew earns its keep:
- Walk-ups in inner-East and Northwest. Lots of two- and three-story stock with narrow stairs. Per-hour math turns against DIY when every load is up a flight or two.
- Rain. Portland gets it October through May, sometimes longer. Floor runners and pads see heavy use. DIY usually skips both and the security deposit goes poorly.
- Two-story houses in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Lake Oswego. Suburban stock plus family-sized furniture needs three movers.
- No-car households moving to the burbs. Common in Portland; the crew can sometimes handle a small in-city shuttle before the truck arrives if the origin doesn’t have truck-friendly access.
If you’re a one-bedroom downsizing inside the inner core with a friend’s car and an elevator, DIY is fine.

Rain — does the crew still work?
Yes. Floor runners and pads come standard for the crew. We’ll plan slightly longer total windows on wet days because the crew works more carefully on slippery stairs.
Two-story Beaverton / Hillsboro house?
Three movers, not two. King mattresses and big sectionals don’t make the turn at the landing with two people.
Tech-relocation move — anything different?
Tell us at booking. Several of our Portland crews handle corporate- paid moves and keep itemized receipts for expense reports.
Can the crew unload across the Columbia in Vancouver WA?
Yes — Vancouver WA is fully covered. Tell us at booking; if your origin is Portland and destination is Vancouver, both crews might be the same team running back-to-back jobs.
Same-day booking?
Weekdays usually yes. End-of-month and summer Saturdays fill two to three days out — book ahead.
