How loading crews work in Austin
You rent a U-Haul, Penske, or Budget truck. We send a two- or three-person crew to your origin — East Austin bungalow, Mueller new-build, South Lamar apartment, Round Rock house, Cedar Park starter home, wherever in the metro. They load under your direction. Most Austin jobs run two to three hours.
We don’t drive the truck, we don’t sell boxes, we don’t broker storage. Labor — done by people who load trucks daily and know which Austin buildings have which access quirks — is the whole product.
When to use a crew vs. moving yourself
Austin patterns where a crew earns its keep:
- August move-in week. UT lease turnover plus the August heat-and-humidity stack. Trucks book out, parking gets tight, and the temperature math doesn’t work for DIY by 10am. Three-mover crews start at 7 and beat the worst of it.
- South Lamar / East Austin walk-ups. Lots of three-floor apartment stock, often with limited truck parking on the street. Per-hour math flips against DIY when every load is a long walk.
- Two-story houses in Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Leander. Staircases plus family furniture need three movers.
- Downtown high-rise with COI requirements. Most newer Rainey, 2nd Street, and Seaholm-area towers want a Certificate of Insurance plus a freight-elevator reservation. Crews that have run those buildings before don’t lose 30 minutes to security or the dock manager.
If you’re moving a studio in East Austin with a friend’s pickup and an elevator at both ends, DIY is fine.
What it costs
Loading Crews quotes every job individually. We don’t publish flat rates — the right number for your move depends on crew size, hours, stairs, specialty items, and the day of week.
After you submit the booking form, our dispatch team texts or calls within five minutes with your specific quote. Flat-rate quotes, no upcharges on arrival, no charge from us if no crew claims your job. The quote you get is the price you pay.

Frequently asked questions
SXSW / ACL — anything different those weeks?
Trucks book out a week early during SXSW (March) and ACL (October). Hotel and short-term-rental turnover also drives demand. Book the crew at least five days ahead for those windows; same-day is usually impossible.
UT August move-in — how do you handle that?
The first two weeks of August are the busiest stretch of the year for Austin moving. Calendars start filling in mid-July. If you have any flexibility, mid-week (Tuesday–Thursday) is dramatically less constrained than weekends, and rates are usually unchanged.
COI for downtown high-rises?
If your building requires a Certificate of Insurance, mention it at booking and the crew lead will work with you to file ahead of move day.
Service area beyond city limits?
Most of the metro: Austin proper, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown, Hutto, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Manchaca, Buda, Kyle, Manor, Del Valle, Sunset Valley, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Dripping Springs. Further out (Bastrop, San Marcos, Lockhart) routes to crews from our national dispatch.
Heat — same playbook as Houston?
Mostly. Book a 7am start from June through September. The crew brings water; keep your own cooler stocked. Heat-sensitive items (candles, electronics, art) load last to minimize hot-truck time.
Same-day booking?
Weekdays usually yes. Weekends, end-of-month, and SXSW/ACL windows fill several days out. Book ahead when you can.
