How loading crews work in San Antonio
You rent a U-Haul, Penske, or Budget truck. We send a two- or three-person crew to your origin — Stone Oak ranch house, Alamo Heights bungalow, Pearl-area condo, Schertz starter home, wherever. They load under your direction. Most San Antonio jobs run two to three hours; the city’s predominantly single-story housing stock tends to load on the faster end.
We don’t drive the truck and we don’t broker storage. Labor — done by people who know how to load in Texas summer heat without breaking your furniture — is the whole product.
When to use a crew vs. moving yourself
San Antonio patterns where a crew earns its keep:
- Summer mornings. May through September means an early start to get the load on the truck before the heat reaches genuinely dangerous territory. Two amateurs at noon in August is the most common back- injury pattern we see. Three-mover crews start at 7am and finish before the worst of the afternoon.
- PCS / military moves around Lackland or Fort Sam Houston. Tight timelines, often family-sized loads, sometimes specialty items. Crews that have run base moves before know the gate access timing and don’t waste a window.
- Two-story houses on the North Side. Stone Oak, Hollywood Park, parts of Helotes and Boerne. Staircases plus the heavy furniture typical of family homes need three movers.
- King mattresses and big sectionals. Two movers and a king mattress on stairs is a roll of the dice. Three movers fixes it.
If you’re a one-bedroom downsizing inside the 1604 with a friend’s pickup, DIY is fine.
What it costs
Loading Crews quotes every job individually. We don’t publish flat rates — the right number for your move depends on crew size, hours, stairs, specialty items, and the day of week.
After you submit the booking form, our dispatch team texts or calls within five minutes with your specific quote. Flat-rate quotes, no upcharges on arrival, no charge from us if no crew claims your job. The quote you get is the price you pay.

Frequently asked questions
PCS move — anything different?
Tell us at booking. Crews that work base moves regularly know to coordinate with TMO timelines, get the gate access squared away, and keep paperwork legible for reimbursement. For an OCONUS departure, specialty packing isn’t included with our labor — that’s a separate service from a licensed mover.
Summer heat — how do you handle it?
Book a start window between 7 and 9am from May through September. The crew brings water; we still ask you to keep your own cooler stocked. Heat-sensitive items (electronics, candles, wood furniture) load last so they spend the least time in the truck before AC at destination.
What about Fiesta and other big-weekend windows?
Late April and early May get tight — Fiesta plus the spring lease- turnover season stack. Book at least a week ahead for those weekends. Most other parts of the year, same-day or next-day weekday booking works.
Service area beyond downtown?
Most of greater San Antonio is covered: downtown, Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City, Converse, Live Oak, Boerne, Helotes, Leon Valley, Castle Hills. Further out (Bandera, Pleasanton) are covered by our national dispatch.— same booking experience, different crew at the door.
Can the crew set up the new place?
Yes — we offer unload-and-place rather than just unload-to-the-room. Tell us at booking and the crew brings furniture pads and basic tools. Assembly of new IKEA-style furniture is a separate request; budget extra time.
Do I need to be present?
At least at the start to direct load order and walk through any access notes (gate codes, alarm codes, fragile pieces). 15 minutes of conversation before they start lifting is usually enough.
